COGNITIVE BEHAVIOURAL THERAPIST IN NORTHUMBERLAND

HELLO!

My name is Peter and I'm a BABCP Accredited Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist.

In my home-based, private practice in Hexham, Northumberland, I provide Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) for adults in the North East of England who are experiencing a range of mental or physical health problems.

After graduating in psychology, I worked for the NHS for 21 years as a mental health nurse, where I gained a lot of experience in a wide range of treatments.

In 1993, I went back to university to study for the Newcastle Cognitive Therapy Post Graduate Course in CBT. Since then, I have continued to develop my skills, getting involved in numerous CBT projects to promote quality therapy whilst training and supervising others, helping them to become expert practitioners.

I’ve spent the last 15 years successfully treating common mental health problems such as anxiety and depression, with hundreds of patients benefiting for the treatments I have given them.

My excellent reputation means I gain clients through referrals from GPs, insurance companies such as Bupa and Aviva, as well as word of mouth.

In 2005, due to overwhelming demand, I decided to open my practice up further to offer therapy sessions to self-referrers seeking my help and expertise.

As well as offering CBT, I am also fully trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) which is also available in my Hexham based practice. Find out more about EMDR and how it could benefit you.

I take great pride in helping people, I understand that life can get difficult and sometimes a little extra care is needed. CBT will provide you with all the tools you need to take care of your wellbeing whilst teaching you how to tackle even the most painful circumstances that may have seemed impossible to deal with before.
